on Sep 24, 2014 in Volunteering | 0 comments

Our best fundraising event of the year is approaching! Our annual book sale during Railroad Days is Saturday, October 4, and Sunday, October 5. We need volunteers to help sell books. We have sign up times for working available on both days from 10 to 12, 12 to 2:30, and 2:30 to 5.  We can also use help setting up on Saturday and breaking down the site on Sunday. Please sign up and help us make this a profitable event for the library! Can you help by taking one (or more!) shift? If so, please contact us at this e-mail address ( or call at (240)285-9583.

Vote for the Boat!

on Sep 4, 2014 in Library News | 0 comments

Voting has begun! The Friends of the Brunswick Library is pleased to announce the pending arrival of a custom-designed canal boat for the children’s area. As all boats need a good name we’re asking Brunswick Library’s youngest patrons (and those young-at-heart) to vote for their favorite name. The candidates are: Blue Bell Onward Morning Star Busy Bee These names were selected from a number of canal boats that actually sailed on the C&O canal. Vote for the boat name at the Brunswick Library information desk. For more details about this project see the article printed in the September 4 edition of The Brunswick Citizen.
