2018 Annual Member Meeting, May 12, 9-10 AM

The Friends of the Brunswick Library is having a meeting for all members on Saturday, May 12, 9-10 AM in the Library Community Room. All Friends members in good standing are welcome to attend.

At this meeting we will be (re-)electing members to the Board, will go over the Friends’ accomplishments since the last annual meeting, but mostly it is for all of us to get to know each other.

Please let us know if you will be attending so that we have enough refreshments for everyone.

p.s., If you have not paid your membership dues for 2018, you can pay them at the meeting.

We hope to see you there!

Volunteers Needed – October 7 & 8

Our community’s generous contributions continue to help us help the Brunswick Branch Library’s missions.

As you may or may not know, the annual used book sale at Brunswick Railroad Days is our biggest event of the year, not to mention our primary fundraiser. Believe it or not, October 7 is only a little more than a month away. We need your help to make it successful.

We would appreciate a donation of a couple of hours of your time on October 7 and/or October 8 during Railroad Days. We need help with book sales, organizing the books, and especially with setup (on Saturday) and breakdown (on Sunday). No previous experience necessary!

Not sure if volunteering is for you? Bring a friend! “Many hands make light work” as the saying goes.
Got teenagers? Got teenagers who need volunteer hours? This is a perfect opportunity, and we always need young, strong backs during setup and breakdown.

Have a truck that we can use to transport the books the two blocks from our storage to our location for the sale? Please let us know!

There are three ways you can sign up:

  • Go to SignUpGenius (This is the best way)
  • Email us (folbrunswick@gmail.com) with your preferred shifts (see below)
  • Call us (240-285-9583) with your preferred shifts (see below)

We need people for these time slots:
Saturday, October 7

7:30-10:00 Setup
10:00-12:00 Sales
12:00-2:30 Sales
2:30-5:00 Sales (and cover-up)

Sunday, October 8

10:00-12:00 Sales
12:00-2:00 Sales
2:00-4:00 Sales
4:00-6:00 Sales/Breakdown/Cleanup

A note about signups: The past couple of years have seen some mercurial weather. We’re asking everyone to provide a contact telephone number so that we can get in touch with you in case last-minute decisions need to be made. As always, your information is safe with us. We will never sell, give away, or otherwise reveal your contact information.

Not Quite Burns Night – January 25, 2017

Come celebrate Robert Burns‘ birthday with us at our Not Quite Burns Night fundraiser at Smoketown Brewing Station!

Smoketown will be introducing their new Scottish Ale: Simpson’s Balley Swagger.

Additionally, we’re planning some Burns’ trivia, reading of Burns poetry, and a bagpiper. There’s sure to be a few kilts as well.

Space at the brewery is limited, so come early!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

2014 was a successful year for the Friends of the Brunswick Library. Between the reading programs, the visits from characters from kids’ books, and the recent installation of The Boat in the children’s section of the Library, this has been a busy and rewarding year.

And we couldn’t have done it without our donors and especially our members. Thank YOU for your continued support.

It’s a new year, which means it’s time to renew your membership. Please visit our Membership page where you can find our membership form that you can download as well as our different membership levels. Thank you for your support in 2015.
