Volunteers needed Oct. 1 & 2!

on Aug 14, 2016 in Library News |

As you may or may not know, the annual used book sale at Brunswick Railroad Days is our biggest event of the year, not to mention our primary fundraiser. Believe it or not, October 1 is only a month-and-a-half away. We need your help to make it successful. We would appreciate a donation of a couple of hours of your time on October 1 and/or October 2 during Railroad Days. We need help with book sales, organizing the books, and especially with setup (on Saturday) and breakdown (on Sunday). Not sure if volunteering is for you? Bring a friend! “Many hands make light work” as the saying goes. Got teenagers? Got teenagers who need volunteer hours? This is a perfect opportunity, and we always need young, strong backs during setup and breakdown. Have a truck that we can use to transport the books the two blocks from our storage to our location for the sale? Please let us know!...

Teen Book Exchange, May 21, Brunswick, Maryland American Legion

on Apr 22, 2016 in Library News |

While the Friends are all about the Library, we also want to do our part to promote reading, especially among young people. The event detailed below is not a Friends of the Library or a Library event, but may be something that interests our fellow book lovers.   Are you a teenager who loves to read? Do you know such a teenager? Do you have books that you’ve read that you would like to trade for new (to you) books? Would you like a chance to win a gift card to McDonalds, Starbucks, or Chipotle? Then come to the Teen Book Exchange, on May 21, 2016, from 10AM to Noon, at the American Legion in Brunswick, Maryland. Those who RSVP on SignUp genius and attend the event will be put in a drawing for those gift cards. Bring 5 books, and you’ll get vouchers to get 6! The event is free and leftover books will be donated to the Frederick Community Action Agency to be distributed...
