Volunteers Needed – October 7 & 8

on Aug 26, 2017 in Events, Volunteering |

Our community’s generous contributions continue to help us help the Brunswick Branch Library’s missions. As you may or may not know, the annual used book sale at Brunswick Railroad Days is our biggest event of the year, not to mention our primary fundraiser. Believe it or not, October 7 is only a little more than a month away. We need your help to make it successful. We would appreciate a donation of a couple of hours of your time on October 7 and/or October 8 during Railroad Days. We need help with book sales, organizing the books, and especially with setup (on Saturday) and breakdown (on Sunday). No previous experience necessary! Not sure if volunteering is for you? Bring a friend! “Many hands make light work” as the saying goes. Got teenagers? Got teenagers who need volunteer hours? This is a perfect opportunity, and we always need young, strong backs during...

Railroad Days 2014 – Thank you!

on Oct 5, 2014 in Fundraising, Volunteering |

It’s been a long couple of days, but it’s finally over. All indications are that we had another successful book sale. Many thanks to those who came out to see us today and, hopefully, buy a book or three. All of the money earned will go directly to supporting our local library. Special thanks go to all of our volunteers who withstood bright sun, biting wind, and carried lots and lots (and lots!) of books. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Please sign up and help us make this a profitable event for the library! Can you help by taking one (or more!) shift? If so, please contact us at this e-mail address (folbrunswick@gmail.com) or call at (240)285-9583.

2013 Railroad Days book sale redux

on Oct 7, 2013 in Fundraising, Volunteering | 0 comments

By all indications, our book sale at this year’s Railroad Days was a resounding success. We had a good, steady stream of customers on both days (the weather helped) and may have had our most successful book sale ever. If you donated books to the sale… If you purchased books at our sale… And especially if you volunteered to work at our sale… Thank you for supporting the Friends of the Brunswick Library and, by extension, the Brunswick Library itself. See you next year! (p.s., We now have some long-term storage and can now take book donations all year long.)

Railroad Days is a scant eight days away! We’ll be there, of course, for our annual book sale. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Look for us by the railroad tracks behind the American Legion. (It’s not too late to donate your books! See our “call for books” for more information.)
