Railroad Days 2024 – 2nd Call for volunteers

Hello Friend!

Brunswick Railroad Days 2024 is only a few weeks away on October 5th and 6th!

Our used book sale at Railroad Days is our major fundraiser of the year. The money we raise is used exclusively to support our Brunswick Branch Library.

We can’t do it without you. Steadman-Keenan American Legion Post 96 is once again generously donating space in their parking lot. While we need people to sell books, we’re especially in need of folks for set up and breakdown. (The books need to be transported 2 blocks from storage.)

Have a student looking for service hours? We are a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and are happy to sign forms to certify service for our younger volunteers.

Did we mention? Volunteers can get 50% off of any of their purchases at our Railroad Days book sale.

Sign-ups are open. Please go to https://signup.com/go/DJMhaUh to sign up for one or more spots. Invite a friend to work with you! Please forward this message to anyone who might be interested.

Here’s how it works in 3 easy steps:

  1. Click this link to see our SignUp on SignUp: https://signup.com/go/DJMhaUh
  2. Review the options listed and choose the spot(s) you like.
  3. Sign up! It’s Easy – you will NOT need to register an account or keep a password on SignUp.

Note: SignUp does not share your email address with anyone. If you prefer not to use your email address, please contact us and we can sign you up manually.

Thank you! Whether you’re able to volunteer or not, we’re looking forward to seeing you at Railroad Days!

Volunteer to sort books on September 30

Hello Friend!
Railroad Days is fast approaching, and with it our used book sale. If you’ve already signed up to help us at the book sale, thank you! If not, we still have plenty of spots open. You can sign up here: https://signup.com/go/WiQHBcq

We’re contacting you today for another volunteer opportunity. In the past, we’ve spent several hours the day of the book sale setup trying to organize the books into genres. This year, we’re going to do it before the sale.

If you have some time between 1PM and 4PM on Saturday, September 30, to help us get these books sorted, we’d really appreciate it. If you can stay the whole time, that’s great, but we’ll be happy if you can only spend some of that time with us.

Here’s where you can sign up: https://signup.com/go/fjjcvzL

We’ll send more details, including the address, a couple of days prior. If you have a folding table we can use and you can bring that with you, that’d be awesome.
As always, reach out if you have any questions.

Calling all Volunteers! Railroad Days 2023 Used Book Sale – Oct 7&8

Hello Friend of the Library!

It’s September, and that can only mean one thing: It’s almost time for Brunswick Railroad Days!

Our used book sale at Railroad Days is our major fundraiser of the year. The money we raise is used to support our Brunswick Branch Library.

But we can’t do it without you. For one thing, these books won’t sell themselves. For another, books are heavy. Steadman-Keenan American Legion Post 96 is once again generously donating space in their parking lot. While we need people to sell books, we’re especially in need of folks for set up and breakdown. (The books need to be transported 2 blocks from storage.) Do you have a pickup truck we could use to move books?

Thank you, and we’re looking forward to seeing you at Railroad Days!

It’s time for the Railroad Days book sale!

Well, as predicted, this all came up faster than we realized.

Railroad Days starts tomorrow and, with it, The Friends of the Brunswick Library’s used book sale.

We’ll be at the American Legion parking lot starting at 10:00 both days. We have a pretty large stock of books, so come on down to see us. Not just books, either. We’ve got audio books, DVDs, CDs, books on tape, and even VHS video cassettes.

It’s not too late to volunteer to help out either. We can always use a few more hands.

Oh, and considering the weather for the last few Railroad Days, we’d appreciate any rain dances, good luck charms, or other interventions you have available to make sure we have good weather.

Volunteers Needed – October 6&7

As you may or may not know, the annual used book sale at Brunswick Railroad Days is our biggest event of the year, not to mention our primary fundraiser. Believe it or not, October 6 is a scant month away. We need your help to make it successful.
We would appreciate a donation of a couple of hours of your time on October 6 and/or October 7 during Railroad Days. We need help with book sales, organizing the books, and especially with setup (on Saturday) and breakdown (on Sunday). No previous experience necessary!
Not sure if volunteering is for you? Bring a friend! “Many hands make light work” as the saying goes.
Got teenagers? Got teenagers who need volunteer hours? This is a perfect opportunity, and we always need young, strong backs during setup and breakdown.
Have a truck that we can use to transport the books the two blocks from our storage to our location for the sale? Please let us know!

Railroad Days Volunteers Needed: Oct 3 & 4

The Railroad Days book sale is the Friends’ biggest fundraising event of the year, and we need your help with set-up and sales. There are 3 ways for you to sign up:

Bring a friend! The more the merrier, many hands make light work, and other aphorisms.
As in past years, the book sale will be in the parking lot of the American Legion Post building right next to the railroad tracks in downtown Brunswick, Maryland.

In addition… we are still in need donations of books to sell.  If you have books you can donate, please drop them off at the Brunswick Library.  Any questions please email us at FOLBrunswick@gmail.com or call at 240-285-9583.

Railroad Days 2014 – Thank you!

It’s been a long couple of days, but it’s finally over. All indications are that we had another successful book sale.

Many thanks to those who came out to see us today and, hopefully, buy a book or three. All of the money earned will go directly to supporting our local library.

Special thanks go to all of our volunteers who withstood bright sun, biting wind, and carried lots and lots (and lots!) of books. We couldn’t have done it without you.
